My New Home - 3205 Explorer Dr, Sacramento

So after comming back to Sacramento from a great christmas/new years vacation, my roommate Mike informed me he'd be moving out. I kinda knew it was comming, after all we weren't able to find another roomie for when Kevin had moved out for over 3 months, and him and I were paying $725/mo.

So after thinking about it, I decided to hell with the renting thing. There was no way I was going to pay all of the rent for the place I'm currently renting ($1450/mo) when I could be throwing that at a mortage instead. Plus the "gee, let's wait for Intel's stock goes up so I'll have a larger down payment" strategy sure as hell wasn't panning out... I waited a whole year for that to happen, no such luck.

Since I had looked at a lot of houses the year before I knew what I wanted, and had an idea of what neighborhoods I'd be OK living in. After a month and a half of searching I found this place. It's big, with 1568 sq ft, and a nice and wide 2 car garage. :) The downside is the previous owners didn't know the definition of house maintenance, so there's quite a bit that needs to be done to the place soon. Just like I learned lots about cars by working on the camaro, I'll be learning about houses by working on this place.

Oh, and to everyone who's curious... yes, I still have the camaro. No, I haven't gotten much work done to it (been busy with projects at work and house hunting). The only progress I've made with it is getting the VIN verified so I can officially register it (and get a title for it finally).

On the top of the roof there is my home inspector - Austin Chase. Him and his sidekick Phil were walking around on the roof, discovering holes and missing shingles, etc. He kinda reminded me of Tim Allen and Al Borland, Austin was pretty bossy around Phil, but he found out a lot of things I didn't know about the house.
