Camaro work as of May 2006

Much bodywork to do. :) In the foreground on top of the rolling toolcase is the driver side door, which just got a first coat of bondo on the bottom of the door. Unfortunately due to the, uhh, lousy (to say the least) job of sandblasting that U.S. Powdercoating did to these panels, they warped all of the sheetmetal, this door included. So it definitely needed a bunch of bodywork. Anyways, the fender in the background is the passenger fender. On the left are the upper and lower valence panels, already in primer.

In the car's previous life a dumb mechanic took a floor jack and decided it was OK to not put a piece of wood between the car and the jack's cup. Furthermore, they were confident that the rocker panel was heavy duty enough to withstand the weight of the car, even tho inches away the subframe exists... Anyways, the jack cup created quite an indentation in the rocker panel. In order to get it out I welded washers to the surface and gradually pulled with the slide hammer (which is what you're seeing here).

Rebuilding the rustout on the passenger front fender. The piece I'm holding in my hand was the chunk that I cut out. The severe rust was probably caused by battery acid, since the battery rests close to there on top of the passenger inner fender. While the pieces I welded in to replace the rustout aren't perfect, they'll be alright after a little filler magic. ;)

Here's a shot of the rocker panel after the coat of fiberglass filler was applied. It'll need one or two coats/sandings of bondo before it's "good enough" for me. :)

The driver door just before primer. While that may look like a lot of bondo, it actually isn't. It's a very thin coat there solely for the purpose to make the final coat of paint glass smooth. :)
