Here I'm preparing to "decompress" and lower the spring. This may not be the safest way to do things kiddies, but it worked for me. I first unbolted the lower control arm and swung it out of the way. Next I put my floor jack underneath the spring, and wrapped a chain around the spring and the jack (in case it decided to shoot out). Finally I slowly decompressed the spring compressor, and every once in a while I lowered the jack. This worked excelent for the passenger side, but the driver side still did a scary "jump" on me.
